At Little Forest Playschool, about 15 children aged between 1 and 1 ½, get together for 3 ½ hours a day with three teachers/assistants supervising. It is important in any preschool program this age that the teacher/child ratio is no more than about 1:7; less being better.  Playschools like this are great for the mother too; it gives her time out so that she is more refreshed when she sees her child.  As well, it reduces the separation anxiety that is often a problem for children who have never spent any time away from their mothers.
