The Paseo del Prado is one of the most important boulevards in Madrid. Follow the vertical North-South, from the Plaza de Cibeles to the Plaza of the Emperor Carlos V, popularly known as Glorieta de Atocha. The Paseo del Prado, Paseo de Recoletos and the Paseo de la Castellana form a major axis which crosses Madrid from North to South, from the train station of Chamartin to Atocha station. The Paseo del Prado is in the heart of Madrid, in this area there are the cuts, the Bank of Spain or the Teatro de la Zarzuela, among others. But most importantly, and what it has earned him the nickname of the Paseo del Arte, is that through it we visit the three most important museums of Madrid; the Museum del Prado, the Thyssen Bornemisza Museum and the Museum of contemporary art Reina Sofia. The Prado Museum is considered the largest pinacoteca of the world and is undoubtedly the best if we refer to the painting of the 16th and 17TH centuries. Harboring within its walls many of the best works of Goya, Velazquez, the Bosco Rubens, Murillo, Fra Angelico, Botticelli, Titian, Rafael, Watteau, Tintoretto and El Greco, among others. This fantastic Museum was renovated and expanded recently, extension by the architect Rafael Moneo, and this has allowed to expose one even greater number of works to the public. The Thyssen Bornemisza Museum is located in the Plaza in the Villahermosa Palace, Neptune. It is, without doubt, one of the best private art collections.

Which was donated to the Spanish State in 1993. It contains works from the 13th century until the 20th, selected among the best painters of every era, among which we can find works of Durer, Tintoretto, Degas, Kandinsky, Goya, Cezanne, Matisse, Dali, Miro, Picasso and Renoir. The Museum of art contemporary Reina Sofia, as its name indicates, is dedicated to modern and contemporary art. Exponiendo in was inaugurated in September 1992, with the idea that was a continuation of the Museo del Prado, works from the nineteenth century to the present. Among his paintings are numerous works by Picasso, Dali, emphasizing between all of them unparalleled Guernica by Picasso.
